Analyzing Imamate Concept in the Verse of Ibtila, Tried, from AllamehTabatabaie's Viewpoint

The topic of Imamate has been discussed in the Verse 124 of Al-Baqara. For many of the Sunni commentators, imamate in this verse is literally known as Muqtada and leader, and about prophet Ibrahim, they have taken it as religious leader or leader in religion having the meaning of prophecy. Citing and referring to other verses of the Holy Quran, AllamehTabatabaie has criticized the proposed ideas by the Sunni commentators about synonymy of Imamate with Prophecy. By proposing the interpretation of the prophets' guidance to showing the way, iraiyi tariq, and that of Imam's to connecting to the desired, isali il almatlub, and also by focusing on the verse tried, ibtila, he has introduced a new theory about Imam's knowledge. This theory has led to controversial discussions by some scholars. This paper attempts to illustrate Allameh Tabatabaie's viewpoint and to provide responses for some problems.
